ALISHAR currently in the process of project construction. The plant will be in three phases, when completed will have a total capacity of 120,000 m3/day. The plant will receive domestic wastewater collected from East Abha having an influent BOD of 500 ppm. Scope of works under construction are Inlet works, Aeration Tanks, Clarifiers, Tertiary Filtration System, Chlorination System, Sludge Handling Facilities, Sludge Thickener, Sludge Dewatering, Polymer Dosing System and Sludge Drying System. 1. Clarifiers: The Plant will have six clarifiers and to separate solid matters from the aerated sewage, settled sewage will be scraped to a collecting hopper. Clarified sewage effluent overflows above the peripheral weir to a chamber going to filtration process. 2. Aeration Tanks: Construction Progress of Aeration Tanks. The East Abha Sewage Treatment Plant will have six tanks; each tank will have six aerators with 115kw each of the vertical shaft type and includes two mixers 3 Kw each in anoxic zones. 3. Chlorine Contact Tank: Chlorine Contact Tanks the structure function is to blend a sufficient amount of chlorine into the effluent as it flows in a carousel-like manner, internal flow walls serves to direct the effluent flow. 4. Filtration Building: Filtration Building function is for tertiary filtration and to reduce BOD and suspended solids being retained in the clarified water as it flows through the voids between filter particles. 5. Sludge Dryer Structure: First in Saudi Arabia, ALISHAR installed The “Sludge Belt Dryer” is suitable for numerous fields of application and has been developed for the drying of moist materials, dewatered sludges and heat sensitive products from waste water treatment.
